Two appliqued flower tops

Yes yes, these photos are sideways. I'm in a hurry. ;)
Just two tops I appliqued for myself!

2025-April: New yoga shorts (with unicorns!)

My new yoga shorts! (with pockets of course!)

I've made many shorts for myself from the same pattern (Peekaboo Summer Lovin' Shorts). It's a nested pattern that I first printed out in 2018. As it happens, over the years I've gradually cut down the well-loved paper pattern to the next smallest size, since I've sloooowly gotten slimmer! (This is a good, intentional thing!)

These have become my standard yoga shorts, made from lovely cotton interlock knit from Birch fabrics.* Recently I noticed all my yoga shorts feeling big, so I cut down the pattern once again, and made these unicorn shorts from that same interlock knit (that I bought ages ago).

Here are the front panels with pockets constructed!

A view of the finished pocket. Yes, I know I don't need pockets during yoga class, but they're mandatory for all other summer shorts wearing! :)

*Sadly, Birch/Fabricworm seems to have stopped making ANY PRINTED KNITS WHATSOEVER, and their prices for solids have skyrocketed. I don't shop at Fabricworm anymore, because it seems all they care about are Charlie Harper prints, and while those are cool for, you know, a little while, I don't think they merit turning your entire shop into Charlie Harper Land. Do you hear me, Fabricworm?!? Seriously, they used to be my go-to for interlock knits, cool Japanese prints, and other fun fabrics, but they've cut down their old offerings to basically nothing (except Charlie Harper). What the heck? It's disappointing to say the least. Oh well, there are plenty of places on the internet to buy fabric!

I already have some french terry prints (from elsewhere) to make my next couple pairs of shorts. :)

2025-April: I finally finished my long sleeve dolman top!

This top has been in the works for months. I cut out the pieces first, and they sat around for a while.

Then I clipped them together to sew. Put this work-in-progress off to the side, where it sat for a lot longer. So much longer, that I began to wonder where the bulk of my clips had gotten to!

Then I pieced the colorblocked sleeves, front, and back. More sitting. But not for as long!

Then, in a great burst of energy, I sewed it all together and finished it in one day!

Behold, my "cozy critters" dolman top! For me!

I used the Oaklynn pattern from Made For Mermaids. It's VERY COMFY! :)

2021-Dec: Colorblock dolman top

This is truly not the greatest photo (ha), but it is the greatest top! I made it for myself from various french terry knits and it's very cozy and warm!

2021-Nov: Simple blue sweater

I made this top for myself out of a soft sweater knit. I love how it came out, especially the fun bishop sleeves! Next time I may add a *little* more length to the sleeves.

Just like for my kids, I added a tiny tag (of Liberty bias tape) in the back for easy dressing! ;)

2021-Nov: New sleeves for purple top

I had bought a top with 3/4 sleeves, but those aren't my favorite, so I didn't wear it much. I decided to add length so it was a proper long-sleeved top! I sewed on some nice purple interlock knit as long cuffs. Now I wear it a lot in the colder months!

2021-August: knit flower yoga shorts

Just a comfy pair of knit cotton interlock shorts for me (with pockets)! These have become a favorite for yoga class. ^_^

2020-December: Rainbow Alison Glass applique tee

This isn't much of a sewing project (ha ha), but I appliqued Alison Glass' beautiful Art Theory circle (one of my favorite prints ever!!) onto an existing tee. I've been meaning to do this for a long time, so it was part of my projects to finish in 2020! :)

2020-December: Origami Top

Just a fun, fancy top for me! I made it out of double brushed poly. It's cozy!

2020-December: Constellations Hoodie

This was an awesome button-down hoodie for ME! I wear it all the time.

Actually, I used snaps instead of buttons. :)

And I added pockets!

2020-August: Whale Shorts

These are SO comfy!! Made for me, and actually they are a little big, which I take as a win for my own fitness since last summer when I made a swim pair. ;)

Also? POCKETS!! I highly recommend this pattern. Made of all knits.

2020-July: 13th Doctor Who shirt

I made this for me! I ended up using it on Halloween, too. :)

I really enjoyed making the row of stripes, then sewing it on. I want to do more of this technique!

2020-April: Plaid Button-down

I made this for me! I adjusted the neckline to have a collar instead of a hood, and I added pockets. The plaid has fun silvery threads in it!

I made one for me after giving the other to a friend!

2016-January: Headbands

Using the same (modified) headband tutorial that I made these Christmas presents with, I made an Elsa headband for E., and a rainbow one for me!

The rainbow one is ever-so-slightly too tight.  It's tricky, getting the elastic right!  I think if I make another headband for myself, I'm going to forego the elastic and just use stretchy cotton/lycra.

2016-January: Comfy bra

So, I have been known to purchase bras from these people, because they are amazingly comfortable, especially for nursing moms!!  I was still nursing at the time, and to pinch pennies I decided to try making my own.  I used an old tank top.

The blue one is the bought one, the striped one is mine!

It turned out fine, was a good experiment (and I was super proud of myself!), but if I need more lounge-y bras, I'm happy to just buy more from the shop in the future!
