2020-March: Sunny Day shirt!

A happy top for my friend's daughter's birthday!

Pattern: Love Notions Game Day Jersey

2020-February: Couch quilt

I finally used some beautiful fabric that my best friend gave me, to make a small, simple quilt for our couch!

I cut out the squares and laid them out.

The back is some double gauze and a few more squares.

Done! Just an easy piecing, turning, topstitching/quilting.

The back. This one didn't get as bunchy as C's, but it still wasn't super flat like it should have been.

2020-January-February: Quilt for C

I finally made C's quilt! Much like E's, it has a colorful minky backing.

First I made the half-square triangles! Light and dark.

I laid it out!

Organizing the rows...

Stacked rows to sew together

Sewn rows . . .

. . . Organized!

Laid out again to sew rows together!

Here is the minky back! That is a PRINT; it's one piece of fabric! I did not piece that!!

Adding my border of pieced flannel

I put the batting in the sandwich

Sewn!

Turned!

The final quilt came out very wonky due to the topstitching/quilting; I don't even want to show it! It was very bunchy and I think my walking foot just isn't a very good one. Also, minky is tough to work with for the backing (but it makes SUCH a nice backing!). Anyway, C loves this quilt, and she doesn't care that it's not perfect! I love it, too, but I do wish the edges hadn't bunched so badly. I'm not sure how to solve this on future quilts.

2020-January: Dragon top

Here is a top for C, when she wanted to look like a dragon at her dinosaur birthday party. (Dragons, dinosaurs . . . they all sort of go together at our house!) I added a woven quilting cotton accent (the scales) to the top of the Fishsticks Charlie Tee pattern.

2020-January: Little Greek Goddess Costume

E had a Greek myth themed birthday party, and everyone came dressed as a Greek goddess! I got a store-bought "goddess dress" for E. But of course C wanted to have a costume, too (which I had overlooked, oops!), so pretty last-minute, I made this!

I copied the look/style of E's store-bought one, modifying the Love Notions Everyday Playdress pattern by adding gathered shoulders; a front, angled overlay panel; gold ribbon trim (and blue bias tape); and flowy open-top sleeves!! The sleeves and overlay are made from an old curtain. ;) The dress itself is an old T-shirt!

She loved it and continues to wear it a lot! :)

2019-December: Forest Friend top with buddy pocket!

I made this for C, so she could carry some buddies around in the snap-closure front pouch/pocket.

Pocket has elastic along the top, and a snap closure

Process pic: the outer pockets are usable, too!

Pattern: Fishsticks Designs Charlie Tee
Plus Cuddle Pocket hack from Love Notions blog

2019-December: Patchwork Stripe Top

A top for E! (sorry for bad lighting)

How I made it:

My fun quilting cottons!

Cut into strips

Assembled front and back

Evened it out

Cut out lining

Sewed stripe panels to bodice

Sewed lining to bodice, too

Pressed each side under and clipped it up!

Hemmed with double needle

The back!

Knit bodice and sleeves and lining were all upcycled shirts

Merry Christmas!

Pattern: Fishsticks Designs Emmy top

2019-November: fuzzy pajamas!

Matching PJ's for the girls, made out of a super soft minky-type blanket and other blue minky. I added convertible attached feet!
Patterns: Love Notions Game Day Jersey,
Fishsticks Lazy Days Lounge pants and top, Fishsticks Mud Puddle Splashers pants.

2019-October: Unicorn Pants

Just a pair of pants for C (starring Celestia!), traced off a pair of Hanna Andersson pants, with pockets added.

2019-September: Doll Clothes

I made these for E's "Our Generation" doll, using a free doll shirt pattern I found online (Liberty Jane) for the plaid shirt and jacket (I modified it to snap in front), and the 18" doll size of the Max Joggers pattern.
