Two appliqued flower tops

Yes yes, these photos are sideways. I'm in a hurry. ;)
Just two tops I appliqued for myself!

Smart and Strong appliqued top!

This was requested by C, when she outgrew the shirt this writing was originally on. She selected the fabrics and I was going to help her make it herself, but as it sometimes happens, she asked me to just do it instead. That's OK! I'm happy to!

Appliqued front with a message that everyone loves! :D

The back has a Totoro print

2022-Jan: Doodle Sweatshirt

I had already put black sleeves on this store-bought hoodie for E's Dawn Wings Necrozma costume. She wore it a lot after Halloween and it got stained. So I appliqued a bunch of "doodles" on it to cover the stain and add extra interest! I like how it came out: very random but (I think) pleasing. It was like doing collage. I had fun with it and she liked wearing it, too!

2022-Jan: Books Dress

I made this dress for E! She loves to read and had outgrown her old books dress. This time, I gave the top/bodice a "dropped waist" (the top is very long) because it had worked well on a previous dress. I created an open "book" and appliqued it on to the top part . . . .

. . . and used a fun bookshelf print for the twirly circle skirt.

Ultimately I ended up chopping the dress into a shirt and a skirt (with yoga waistband), since the long top part bothered her. I guess this idea worked out better as a set! :)

2021-Sept: Flower and Pokemon zippered Pencil Cases!

I made these zippered pencil cases for my girls for the start of school. E requested appliqued Pokemon on hers, so I made it happen!

The Pokemon outer and both linings are made from a sturdy canvas.

I love how they came out! C's flower case now holds art supplies at home, but E still brings hers to school every day!

2021-August: Blue Imagination Sweatshirt!

I love how this came out! I upcycled an old sweatshirt from my hubby into my daughter's size, added a kangaroo pocket, and appliqued everything else. Sadly she only fit it briefly, but now it's nice and big on her little sister!

Little sun on back and critters on shoulders!

2021-August: Upcycled LOVE shirt

This was for E., made entirely from my old shirts (including the LOVE applique)!

2021-August: Totoro top and star top for ME!

I was overdue for some new me-made tops so I made these fun ones!

2021-August: Two inspirational panel tops!

I made these for C. by appliqueing a panel onto a store-bought top, and adding ribbon and other applique critters I had previously cut out. Easy and they look great!

I also added a ribbon to the neckline of this one.

2020-December: Rainbow Alison Glass applique tee

This isn't much of a sewing project (ha ha), but I appliqued Alison Glass' beautiful Art Theory circle (one of my favorite prints ever!!) onto an existing tee. I've been meaning to do this for a long time, so it was part of my projects to finish in 2020! :)

2020-July: 13th Doctor Who shirt

I made this for me! I ended up using it on Halloween, too. :)

I really enjoyed making the row of stripes, then sewing it on. I want to do more of this technique!

2020-April: Floral Totoro Dress

I wanted to add in a piece of C's old favorite too-small top (the pink flowers), and since my color choices unexpectedly made a blank canvas right on the front of the dress (ha!) I appliqued on Totoro. I added some soot sprites on one of the front pockets!

2017-April: Lion Shirts

2017-April: LOVE shirts for the girls!

Time to get caught up here again . . . !

I just made these shirts for my girls.  I plan to make have made more for the shop, in all kinds of fun color/print combos!  I am excited about it -- I hope you are, too!

This outfit is entirely made by Mommy! Picked by E.!

This was my first time doing applique using interfacing -- the peel and stick adhesive stuff that makes it easy to do. Aside from inadvertently getting it stuck to my ironing towel, I liked it a lot! You still sew around the edge of the applique, but you don't have to worry about the edges fraying so there's no extra steps there.  YAY!

I LOVE this new shirt pattern I have -- I see a lot more of these mini-crossover V necks in the future!

oops, this is upside down. I was ironing on top of some fabric while my regular ironing towel was in the wash!
