2013-May: Train Undies

These were for E.  We were reading a library book (It's Potty Time! by Tracey Corderoy and Caroline Pedler), and she got excited about the bear's train undies.  Well, Mommy can make that!  I used one of those ridiculously large "bloomers" that come with baby outfits -- I mean, they are BIG, big enough for toddler underpants!*  I had a bunch laying around.  These were not trainers, but real big kid undies!

* When E was three and we were on a trip in Woods Hole, I found myself without spare undies for her and let's just say I needed some!!  Woods Hole is not a big place, and all I could remember seeing was some high-quality "bloomers" near the souvenir onesies in a gifty shop . . . I got them, and "size 6 months" fit her just fine and continued to fit until well through age 4!

2013-May: Punky Brewster Shirt

A custom order for a little girl who was getting into Punky Brewster by watching episodes on YouTube.  I tried to make it as accurate as possible. :)

2013-April: Rainbow Circles Shirt #2

I finished the Rainbow Circles shirt I mentioned when I was making the princess shirts, and had it up for sale in my Etsy shop for a while.  No one bought this one, either, so now Baby C wears it!

2013-April: Grumpy Kitty Shirt

I was on a roll with painted shirts, so I made this specifically for my Etsy shop.  Nobody bought it.  If by chance you, the reader, are interested in buying it (it's size XS 2-4), contact me and I'll set up a listing for you! :)

2013-March: Process photos for princess shirts

I thought I'd throw in some pictures of my process for the princess shirts.  I worked on the two shirts simultaneously, doing one while the other was drying, mixing a color to use in sections on both.  Drying the shirts with a fan to speed things along!

When I had leftover paint at the end of each session, I added it to a new Rainbow Circles shirt, so that got layered up with color over time. :)

Original Circles shirt on left, work-in-progress lazy leftover shirt on right.  I like the technique as a way to slowly build something cool out of what I would have otherwise washed down the sink.  I think I should always have a Rainbow Circle shirt going in the background whenever I do a main painted shirt project!

2013-March: Princess Shirts

A custom order for two 6-year-olds!  The request was for Disney princesses: one was Belle, and the other was Cinderella, Ariel, and (randomly) eagles!  I liked the process of making these and I think they turned out really well, but I like drawing my own stuff instead of these commercial characters.  Oh well, I suppose it falls under "fan art"!  I'm not particularly a fan, but those girls are, so I tried to make it as fun as possible.

2013-March: 2-Piece Oshie Art Project: "Chips"

(What is Oshie?  See my first oshie piece here for explanation!)

This was for my brother's album cover.  I made the piece and then scanned it for him, and as a print for my shop.  I do think these Oshie pieces are best seen in their original form, so one can see the texture and puffiness!  I gave him the originals. :)

It does look like a tiny quilt, doesn't it?  I'm not afraid to make something like this on an actual sewing machine now!

And the back cover!  Words were to be written inside the big middle circle part . . .

. . . so I lightened it up on the computer.

I thought this would also make a fun border for a picture frame, but in reality it looks pretty weird with a face in the middle!

2013-March: The Girly Shirt

Custom order!  The request was for fairies, butterflies, unicorns, pink, rainbows -- girly stuff!
I really liked doing the hood, and how it turned out.

2013-March: Cat/Dog Shirt

Another custom order, showing the family pets.
